Language Development

We strive to support minority language communities who face the challenge of having no written form of their language, no literature and no access to formal education in their mother tongue. To address this issue, we assist these communities in developing an alphabet (orthography) that reflects the sound system of their language. Our team of qualified linguists, alongside trained mother tongue speakers, work together to create a writing system that accurately represents the unique features of their language. The script is often that of the closest mainline language. This milestone achievement is often a significant moment for an oral society as it acknowledges their language’s existence and provides a sense of identity and recognition. As a result, language maintenance is promoted, and individuals within these communities feel a renewed sense of pride and dignity, leading to aspirations for progress in various spheres of life, including social, educational, and economic domains.
